Watermelon Fruit

Water melon fruit scientific name is Citrullus Lanatus from family Cucurbitaceae. It is native to southern Africa. In Malaysia, Johor is the biggest state planted of watermelon fruit. In Malaysia, watermelon is very popular tropical fruit especially during hot weather to cool down the thirsty. The watermelon fruit has a smooth greenish thick skin with juicy rew sweet flesh or yellowish color. The watermelon is in round, square or oblong shape around diameter 35 to 42cm.

Watermelon Varieties

Watermelon planted in Malaysia basically got two different type such as:

1. Yellow Crimson- This type is the most sweetr and more honey flavor then the most popular red flesh. The rind is green and the flesh is in yellow color.

2. Carolina Cross- The rind isgreen in color with red flesh.


How Watermelon Tree Look?

Malaysia climate temperature between 30 o 35 degree Celsius and high humidity. It is suitable for plant watermelon. Watermelon planted at soil with drainage area. Watermelon is not a tree. The flower is yellow petal with diameter about an inch. Its dark leaves with prominent veins. In Malaysia, there planted huge at Perak and Johor.
